“The Make Good Fellowship has helped to create clarity, structure and has identified partnerships. I can’t emphasize enough the significance of the support.” — Jermaine Malcolm, One Another Project

INAUGURAL SPRING 2021 COHORT

Our Fellows spent the last few months reimagining the future of our city through various methods, including how to help women coming out of vulnerable situations enter the workforce, how to expand how we might approach healthcare, how we might care for our undocumented neighbors, how to provide equitable employment opportunities, and how to inspire social change through learning. The six projects coming out of our pilot Fellowship program include:

  • A food truck and root beer distribution providing business ownership opportunity, building equity in San Antonio’s predominantly black neighborhood
  • A co-working community and daycare plus an environmental wellness-focused park programmed for the good of the neighborhood
  • A holistic health clinic, providing trauma-informed care – especially for the uninsured and underinsured
  • An anti-racist curriculum for churches and pastors
  • A food truck park and outdoor pavilion, specifically for young families

“The fellowship has been essential in moving our project forward. The kickoff weekend helped to solidify many of our ideas and give us the confidence to move forward. The workshops gave us new language and understanding for the structure of our project while the more contemplative elements gave us space to invite the spirit to shape and guide our plans in exciting directions. The bootcamps have given us opportunities to connect with our cohort peers and learn from one another’s experiences. The whole experience has been such a gift.”

TESTIMONIALS

“My big idea is a holistic wellness center united under the core values of trauma-informed healing…. The wellness center is designed with communities of marginalized and oppressed people groups in mind; most specifically migrants, but also members of the community from a diverse set of backgrounds who recognize that their health needs are not adequately captured or addressed by more traditional models of healthcare…

The Make Good Fellowship helped me identify the values and foundation of my idea and build the project from the basement up…. I have learned a lot about entrepreneurship and just as much (if not more) about myself through this process.

— Denae Gerasta, Redencion Wellness Center

“I appreciated the dedicated space and time for dialogue, discernment, critical analysis, and encouragement… The Impact Guild staff skillfully balances the tension between encouragement (helping individuals and teams feel emboldened as they pursue their goals) and discernment (helping individuals and teams collect and receive input and feedback from outside their normal channels).”
