Your Guide to Becoming a Pod
The Fieldguide is a comprehensive framework designed to guide community-based organizations through the process of increasing climate resilience in neighborhoods across San Antonio. This guide equips you to join the network as a Neighborhood POD and connects you to further modules and tools to develop impactful projects. With these resources, you’ll be ready to build resilience, foster equity, and take advantage of microgrant opportunities to bring your community’s vision to life.
What does a POD look like in action?
As a Neighborhood POD, you are working to build resilience capacity to serve your community in three operating conditions: Everyday, Disruption, & Recovery. The term resilience is often used interchangeably with emergency preparedness and response, but these elements only address part of this important concept.
Below, you will find examples of what it looks like for a POD to act in these operational modes.
When Neighborhood PODs operate in EVERYDAY or “Blue Skies” mode, they act as a focal point for the community: improving year-round conditions and the necessary tools and resources to enhance day-to-day life.
In Disruption Mode, Neighborhood PODs also act as centers for preparedness and disaster response.
In the event of a disruption, PODs respond and enhance operations to better support immediate community needs, reducing the need of emergency services and connecting neighbors with supplies, information and support.
In Recovery Mode, Neighborhood PODs are centers for resource deliveries and distribution, access to support and assistance, and locations to access trauma support services.
PODs can also serve as central locations for external partners to gather and support recovery services such as conducting needs assessments, damage assessments, and interviews with residents.

building thriving, resilient neighborhoods.
